Here I am shown presenting funds donated to some ladies in Peraliya. Mr Karu Gamage (photo to the right), a friend and president of the Janoda Foundation, organized several projects to help some of the people in the south to get back onto their feet. Karu is pictured with a few of the women who would use the donated coir machines to make rope from coconut fibers.

Peraliya village is a few hundred meters inland from the coast, but the water had come up to the roof tops of the one-storey houses.

The map situates Sri Lanka in relation to South India.

One of the coaches of the train hit by the waves at Peraliya. Around 1500 passengers on the train perished.

The last picture shows what was left of the bus station in the center of Galle.
